Spinal stenosis causes pain by pressing on the nerves when the spine bends
backward. For this reason, stretches which bend the back forward may provide
you with relief. To start, lay on your back with your knees bent and your
feet flat on the floor. Next, lift 1 leg and pull your knee towards your
chest and hold this stretch for about 30 seconds. During this stretch,
you may feel some tension but should not feel pain. Then, switch sides
and repeat the stretch on the other leg.
